Other ABAF-BVFA linked European bodies
European Financial Reporting Advisory Group - was set up in 2001 to assist the European Commission in the endorsement of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), as issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) by providing advice on the technical quality of IFRS. EFRAG is a private sector body set up by the European organisations prominent in European capital markets, known collectively as the 'Founding Fathers' or Member body organisations. EFFAS is one of the founding fathers of EFRAG.
The Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) was established on 6 June 2001 by a decision of the European Commission, pursuant to the recommendations of the Committee of Wise Men on the Regulation of European Securities Markets. This in turn followed a resolution of the Heads of State and Government of the European Council of March 2001 and the resolution of the European Parliament in February 2002. CESR is the successor to the Federation of European Securities Commissions (FESCO). ABAF-BVFA is linked to CESR through its president Hans Buysse. CESR was renamed into ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority) in 2011.
