The EFFAS Certified Portfolio Manager (ECPM) programme teaches you to describe the portfolio approach to investing, types of investors and their characteristics, defined contribution and defined benefit pension plans, and the steps in a portfolio management process. You will also evaluate aspects such as modern (equity and fixed income) portfolio theory, investment guidelines and policies, principles of asset allocation, asset-liability analysis and management, and selected topics in behavioural finance.

Why should you follow the ECPM® programme?

The EFFAS Certified Portfolio Manager (ECPM)® programme is a comprehensive certification designed to provide a deep understanding of portfolio management, covering both theoretical and practical aspects such as:

  • Portfolio Approach: A detailed understanding of the portfolio approach to investing, including the characteristics of different types of investors and how these inform investment decisions.
  • Modern Portfolio Theory: Comprehensive coverage of modern portfolio theory, investment guidelines, policy frameworks, and principles of asset allocation and asset-liability analysis, ensuring participants can make informed and strategic investment decisions.
  • Risk and Return Analysis: An in-depth ability to interpret key return measures, calculate and analyse various risk measures, and explain risk aversion as it applies to portfolio selection.
  • Efficient Portfolio Selection: A thorough understanding of the minimum-variance and efficient frontiers of risky assets, enabling participants to select an optimal portfolio based on their risk aversion and capital allocation strategies.

The ECPM® programme  is an online training, covering the complete examination syllabus. Training includes access to pre-recorded video lectures, lecture notes, practice exercises and multiple-choice questions. The training programme’s estimated learning time is 120 hours of self-study.

 

Who should attend?

Focusing on both theoretical and practical elements of portfolio management, EFFAS Certified Portfolio Manager® is particularly aimed at professionals in the following areas: asset managers with asset management companies, pensions funds, life insurance companies, wealth management companies; financial researchers; corporate finance specialists and treasurers; financial journalists; professionals involved in legislation / regulation of the above-mentioned fields as well as professionals already working in the investment sector – but looking for an advanced qualification, of course.

Practical information

Registration
Once you have completed the registration form (or via the 'Apply now' button at the top of this page) you will receive an invoice. Once we have received your payment we will complete your registration and give you access to the learning platform for 9 months. 

Exams
ECPM Common Exam sessions are organized by EFFAS two times a year. The exam has a duration of 210 minutes. The exams are online only.

Price & Certification
The price for the ECPM® programme is 1 800 EUR (VAT incl.), which includes 9 months access to the EFFAS learning management system and the online exam.

Candidates who pass the EFFAS common exam receive the ECPM® Diploma issued by EFFAS, an international certification highly valued by employers.

Companies
